We are excited to announce that our 5:30PM Monday night in person meeting is moving back to our home at Lotus Light Contemplative Community Center! But wait! There’s more! meditation again! Our Friday night meeting will be held at The Flatiron Club with our first meeting being held on Friday November 13th at 8:00PM. Come Sit!
we will be able to accommodate 10 people with social distancing at Lotus Light. The room we will be using at Flat Iron will seat 12 to 15 with social distancing and we will be Zoom simulcasting, so join us in our Zoom meeting room if you are not able to make it in person. Click Here.
For safety we will be folllowing these guidlines:

2. Masks to be worn by all.
3. Social distancing to be respected

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The purpose of this study is to obtain information about the Recovery Dharma program and the benefits received by participating in the Recovery Dharma program.
PROCEDURES
If you volunteer to participate in this study, you will be asked to provide information about yourself and your recovery in an online survey that will take approximately 15-30 minutes. Additionally, you will be asked to participate in a 10-minute follow-up study in 6 months, at which time a link will be sent via email. In the first survey, you will be asked for information related to your background, your recovery, personality, and behaviour. You will also be asked to provide a brief written description of your experience in Recovery Dharma. The second survey consists of a shorter version of the first survey. We may use direct quotations (anonymously) in the analysis and in forthcoming publications. At the end of each of the surveys, you will be asked if you would like to be entered into a gift card draw.

Speaker Meetings!
On Sunday February 2nd, RECOVERY DHARMA KNOXVILLE held the first of our new monthly Speaker Meetings!
The meeting consisted of a guided meditation, followed by one of our members sharing about his experience of recovery using Buddhist principles and Recovery Dharma. The meeting was well received and we are looking forward to this ongoing exploration of recovery through the Dharma!

SPECIAL EVENT
BUDDHIST MEDITATION WITH SCOTT TUSA

Saturday October 12 10:00 am – 5:00pm
In this two day retreat, Buddhist teachers Scott Tusa and Lama Karma will lead practice and give teachings on the essence of meditation in the Buddhist tradition.
Friday night is intended as an introduction, open to anyone interested in practicing meditation.
Saturday, Scott will continue the program going into the tradition of Mahamudra in more depth.
Through a combination of experiential learning and meditation this workshop will dive deep into the heart of the Mahāmudrā teachings and tradition, helping us to better overcome mental and emotional habits that cause us unnecessary suffering.

Scott Tusa is a Buddhist teacher based in Brooklyn, New York. Ordained by His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, he spent nine years as a Buddhist monk, with much of that time engaged in solitary meditation retreat and study in the United States, India, and Nepal. He teaches meditation and Buddhist psychology internationally in group and one-to-one settings, and supports Tsoknyi Rinpoche’s Pundarika Sangha as a practice advisor. He trained in Buddhist philosophy and meditation with some of the greatest living masters since his early twenties, including Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, and Tulku Sangag Rinpoche.

Justin Wall (Lama Karma) has over twelve years of teaching experience to offer students seeking to study the practices of the Tibetan Buddhist path tailored to the Western mind and idiom. He graduated with honors from Columbia University and completed over seven years of retreat in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
He is the spiritual director of the Milarepa Retreat Center and is a founding board member of the Lotus Light Contemplative Community Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Literature/Meditation/Inquiry Meeting
On Tuesday August 12th RECOVERY DHARMA KNOXVILLE held the first of our new monthly meetings designed to dive deep into study of the Recovery Dharma book. The meeting consisted of a guided meditation, exploration of the text, sharing of our experience of the Dharma, and examining the inquiries at the end of each chapter. The meeting was well received and we are looking forward to this ongoing exploration of recovery through the Dharma!
